Period-based teaching cannot meet all the demands of core competencies, so integrated unit teaching has become the subject of research. The three contents of this study are the theoretical connotations, content reconstruction and task design of the integrated unit teaching plan for junior high school English. Explain the reasons for the paradigm shift under the leadership of core competencies, show how to reconstruct content in line with thematic meaning and integrate it with big ideas, and set up a structure for goal stratification, task chain design and problem chain embedding to achieve deep learning. Integrate language learning with the exploration of meaning, cognitive development and character education through thematic meanings, big ideas and task chains in this paper.
